Terms of use

Last updated: September 8, 2026

By using HardwareProbe you agree to these terms. They are deliberately short, because the site is a free collection of browser-based diagnostic tools with no accounts and no payments.

What the site is

HardwareProbe provides free tests that use standard browser APIs to check hardware attached to your device. The tools are provided for personal, non-commercial troubleshooting.

No warranty

The tests are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. Browser APIs report what the operating system tells them, and results can be affected by drivers, browser version, permissions and other software. A passing result is not a guarantee that hardware is free of faults, and a failing result is not proof that it is broken.

Nothing on this site is professional repair advice. Before opening a device, replacing a component or returning hardware under warranty, check with the manufacturer or a qualified technician. We are not liable for damage caused by following a suggestion on this site.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Health and safety

The dead pixel test includes a stuck pixel fixer that displays rapidly changing colours. Do not use it if you are sensitive to flashing lights or have photosensitive epilepsy. The click speed test involves repetitive motion; stop immediately if you feel pain in your hand, wrist or forearm.

Intellectual property

The text, design and code of this site belong to its operator. Product and brand names mentioned in troubleshooting guides belong to their respective owners, and this site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any hardware, operating system or browser vendor.

Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
